ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Unfortunately, Texas roads are not getting safer with time. In fact, road accident fatalities have actually increased 33% since 2010. Reducing road accidents starts with building better driving habits and sometimes building better habits takes a little incentivization. That is precisely why Patterson Law Group is sponsoring Texas’ Safest Driver Competition. We’re giving drivers the chance to earn cash and the title of Texas’ Safest Driver all while building better road habits and abiding by local traffic laws.
HOW IT WORKS
Patterson Law Group is currently accepting competition entrants until Monday, April 1st, 2019. On April 1st entrants will receive an invite to download TrueMotion family if they have not done so already and the competition will begin. True Motion provides a cumulative average driving score from 1-100 (100 being the best possible score) based on your driving behavior. The app will reduce points for speeding, hard braking, quick acceleration, and distracted driving. Drivers in the competition will receive an updated driving score for each drive that they take.
The competition will run for one month until Tuesday, April 30th. At the end of one month, drivers will need to take a screenshot of their scores and send the scores to community@pattersonpersonalinjury.com. Scores must be sent by Friday, May 3rd. A reminder email will be sent out to all entrants before the 30th. The driver with the best overall score will be awarded the title of the Safest Driver in Texas.
NAVIGATING THE TRUEMOTION APP
Simply click the link to download the app once you’ve received the invite to TrueMotion on Monday, April 1st. When the app opens, you’ll be asked to verify your phone number and enter a code. After verification you will need to enable both app location access and phone access. If you fail to allow either function, your score will be affected. TrueMotion will begin automatically recording and scoring drives once the app is set up.
Because TrueMotion starts recording any time it detects movement faster than foot travel, your score can be influenced by trips via Uber, Lyft, plane, train, or bus. Whenever you’re traveling and not in the driver seat, you should enable travel mode in the app settings. You can also connect your Uber account with TrueMotion, so that TrueMotion automatically knows not to score Uber rides.
WHAT IF MY RIDES AREN’T BEING SCORED?
If your rides are not being scored, there could be a number of reasons why. Lack of a score could occur when the app hasn’t been granted permissions to track your location, you have travel mode enabled (for plane, bus, and train travel), or you force-quit the app (doing so may prevent the app from resuming in the background). If you run into trouble with the app, you should contact support at mailto:support@goTrueMotion.com.
