History of White Settlement
White Settlement was established in 1840 in the early days of the Texas Republic. After land was granted to settlers under the “Homestead law,” settlers built near the Trinity River. In September 1843, a treaty was signed by the representatives of the Republic of Texas and the Indian tribes to open more doors to claim the “Grand Prairie” that is now Tarrant County and Parker County.
In the 1860s as pioneers moved westward, a one-room log cabin was built to use as a school. The school stood where the runway for Carswell Air Force Base is now located.
