Courtney Hanson is a licensed Texas attorney and mediator. She received her undergraduate degree from Concordia University in Austin, Texas in English in 2007. Courtney continued on to graduate law school from Texas Wesleyan, now Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2010. She received her mediator certificate in completing 40 hours of alternative dispute resolution and she volunteered for the community’s bankruptcy clinic and served 30 pro-bono hours in debtor collection dispute resolution.
After law school, Courtney successfully passed the Texas State Bar Exam and returned to her hometown of Austin, Texas to serve as a legislative attorney at the Texas State Capitol during both the 82nd and 83rd Texas Legislative Sessions.
In 2019, she returned to Fort Worth to join PLG as the firm’s pre-litigation attorney primarily responsible for negotiating fair and effective settlement of their clients’ injury claims without having to go to court. She works hard to negotiate favorable settlements for all of her clients and takes great pride in providing zealous representation to the often under-valued and disadvantaged community of injured Texans fighting against large insurance companies for the justice they deserve. She has spent the last several years dedicated to her firm and community, successfully resolving hundreds of PI claims without initiating litigation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, PLG took direct action to help those most affected—overwhelmed hospital workers. The team worked with community partners to establish Mental Health for Heroes (MHFH), a nonprofit that supports the mental health needs of medical staff. Stepping up as Board President, Courtney worked tirelessly with her colleagues to secure substantial grant funding to cover the cost of Zoom and telephonic mental health counseling for frontline healthcare workers.
Today, Courtney continues to guide MHFH in their work to adapt the organization to other essential workers confronted with trauma, like the teachers and first responders in Uvalde, and other institutions struck by tragedy. The goal of MHFH is to provide free, qualified, confidential, and safe counseling to all heroes that are often overlooked or taken for granted.
After hours, Courtney enjoys spending time with her many family members in Fort Worth, including her husband, Aaron, their daughter, Jette, and their rescue dog named Teacup. She loves outdoor activities, cycling, birdwatching, scuba diving, and skiing.
