Patterson Law Group Joins Distracted Driving Month Efforts

Fort Worth, TX – It’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April, and Fort Worth-based personal injury law firm Patterson Law Group is stepping up to help the cause and put an end to distracted driving.

Did you know?

  • The Texas Department of Transportation reports distracted driving as the No. 2 cause fatal crashes in Texas.
  • Teenagers today are also more likely to be killed by distracted driving than drunk driving.
  • Numbers show that 1 in 5 crashes were caused by a distracted driver in 2022, and those accidents caused 364 deaths and around 2,200 injuries.
  • Since September 1, 2017, it has been illegal to read, write or send text messages while driving a vehicle in Texas, and violators can face fines up to $200.

As part of the commitment to promoting safe driving practices and reducing the number of accidents caused by distracted driving, Patterson Law Group has partnered with End Distracted Driving. This national organization is focused on reaching high school students through interactive assemblies with resources to help students understand the impact of distracted driving and practical approaches to avoid it.

Travis Patterson, the managing partner of Patterson Law Group, is speaking to local high school students as part of the program. As a personal injury attorney, Patterson sees the catastrophic impact of unsafe driving and is passionate about educating drivers about car safety and the preventable dangers of distracted driving.

In just three weeks, we have already spoken to over 500 high school students and received exceptional feedback from the students, parents, and school administrators. After seeing the presentation, 92% of the students are less likely to drive distracted and 95% are more likely to speak up when others drive distracted.

Patterson Law Group is committed to promoting safe driving practices and helping those who have been injured in accidents caused by distracted driving. The firm encourages all drivers to put down their phones and focus on the road while driving.

“Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents on Texas roads, and it’s a problem that affects everyone,” said Patterson. “We hope that our efforts to educate young drivers a bout the dangers of distracted driving will help to reduce the number of accidents caused by this behavior and make our roads safer for everyone.”
